Iris is now compatible with the Google Assistant.

Controlling your lights has never been easier, with Google!

At Iris we’re always looking for innovative products and brands to partner with, to make your home as smart as possible. And today we’re pleased to announce our latest integration: the Google Assistant, available now.

What is the Google Assistant?

The Google Assistant is your own personal Google, always ready to help. The Google Assistant can be used on your Pixel phone, select Android phones, Android Wear or via Google Home.

Google Home is a voice-enabled speaker powered by the Google Assistant, providing hands-free help around the house. You can ask it questions and give it commands to make your day run a little smoother.

How does it work?

Just start by saying, “Ok Google” to easily control smart devices around your home.

The Google Assistant currently integrates with Iris Lights and Switches. Manage your lighting via Google by asking the Assistant:

“OK Google, turn on the bedroom lights”.

Google will recognize device names as they are set up in the Iris app. Because of this, we suggest naming these devices logically (i.e., ‘bedroom lights’ rather than ‘light 21B’) and using only English language for these names.

What’s next?

We’ll be adding more actions to the Google Assistant over the next few months, so stay tuned for more updates.
