Okay But only with a Home Brewed Fix

As many have said the pendant is not designed well. My Mom accidentally pressed it three times in an hour. BUT, we fixed it pretty easily though but doubtless voided the warranty. I cut a medicine bottle cap into a ring protector that would surround the button. It is a ring approximately 1/4" high. I glued the ring down with a product called SUGRU which is a white flexible rubber glue/molding playdoh type of substance. I suppose a hot glue gun would work as well though not as pretty. When I got done there was a nice raised ring around the button. She even sleeps with it, so far WITH MY ADDED RING there have been no false alarms. She has been using it for a week or so and now I am getting "battery low" signal via E-mail which is nice but kind of disappointing as I hoped the batteries would last longer. I am giving it a 4 for bad design, and it may drop to a 3 or 2 if the batteries go bad every week. We'll see. The alarm call to my cell phone comes from the same number, so far so I can use a Red Framed portrait of my Mom and a special ring to warn me. That part is an excellent feature.... So improving the product is a must IRIS!

Came with a dead battery. Also after paying $79 to buy this, there is a $15 a month charge to make it work
Good idea, flawed execution

While the pendant does what it is designed to do, it is a bit limited. It is easy to accidentally trigger, but that's not too much of an issue. I'm disabled and use this for personal safety. I have a history of falls and cant afford the more expensive dedicated "Life Line" type system. For future designs, I would recommend adding a Bluetooth LE in addition to the Zigbee radio. This would allow it to pair with a smart phone (which most people, including elderly have in this day and age). Once paired with a smart phone, regardless of where you are, in the home or even out, I could see being able to press the button, trigger an alert, and if out of the home, it could even alert your personal contacts of your location. With some additions to the Iris app, you can monitor the sensors in the smart phone to see if it registered a sudden drop, and with a pendant press, it could send a GPS tagged location, along with an alert an alert of a suspected fall.
